As a psychologist in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I work with adolescents and adults dealing with life's more difficult challenges. Psychotherapy is private. It happens between two people. It insists on trust and sensitivity, and I'm honored by the trust of my clients. I feel grateful every day to be able to serve them in this way.
What I am doing out here, however, in the wild wild west that is the new internet, is public. I won't be talking about my clients. Instead, in minding, I'll be offering opinions and observations about culture and psychology—how our environment shapes the way we feel and think— from the point of view of a practicing psychologist. What does our culture say about who we are? How do our public obsessions, or make us feel? What do we think, really, about what we've surrounded ourselves and our children with?
You won't always agree with me—if not, let me know. But I hope it will be interesting.
